Contract 35mm Curtain Pole Kit – Matt Black

Contract 35 is the widest and strongest pole in the Renaissance contract range, and the one to specify when the curtains are heavy or interlined and the opening is wide. The 35mm section carries full-length interlined drapery, blackout-lined curtains and large sheers without visible sag, which is why it goes into hotel suites and function rooms, boardrooms and dining rooms, care-home lounges, theatres and reception spaces, and large residential bays and picture windows. It is also the most decorative of the contract poles: up to five finial designs are made across the range — ball, end cap, bullet, trumpet and barrel — and this finish is made with two of them, ball and end cap. Kits up to 300cm come in one piece; above 300cm the pole is supplied in two pieces with a joiner and a middle bracket, which is how a 6m run is made deliverable and still properly supported.

What is in the kit

Every kit contains the pole, rings (one per 10cm of pole), brackets, two finials, fixings and instructions. Bracket and ring counts by length are listed in the specification tab. Free RCA delivery on orders over £250; next-day dispatch on orders placed before 12pm.

Order curtains and poles together

Pair this pole with made-to-measure fire retardant curtains, interlinings and blackout linings on CreateFR. Pencil pleat and pinch pleat headings run on the rings supplied. Hardware is dispatched direct from the manufacturer and arrives separately from your curtains.

Two-piece poles: every kit above 300cm — 360cm, 480cm, 600cm — is supplied as two pieces with a joiner and a middle bracket. Slide the two halves onto the joiner, then fix the middle bracket at the joint so the joint is carried by a bracket rather than spanned between two. Kits of 120cm, 150cm, 180cm, 240cm, 300cm are supplied in one piece. Plan the fixing centres before you drill: two brackets on the 120cm, 150cm, 180cm, 240cm, 300cm kits and three on the 360cm, 480cm, 600cm kits.

Wall fix with the bracket you ordered — Adjustable K and Contemporary brackets are the options in this finish. The Adjustable K bracket projects 75–100mm to pole centre. Renaissance does not publish a projection figure for the contemporary bracket, so measure your own clearance over sills, radiators and window furniture before you fix.

A 35mm pole carrying interlined curtains at 4.8m or 6m puts real load into the wall. Fix into solid masonry or into timber behind plasterboard, and use an anchor rated for the substrate rather than the kit fixings in a weak background. Get the middle bracket in before you hang the curtains.

Rings and finials: thread all the rings onto the pole before you fit the second finial, and on a two-piece pole split the rings either side of the middle bracket. One ring per 10cm of pole is supplied — 120cm: 12 · 150cm: 15 · 180cm: 18 · 240cm: 24 · 300cm: 30 · 360cm: 36 · 480cm: 48 · 600cm: 60. Non-lined rings are standard; nylon-lined rings are available separately for quieter, lighter running on curtains that are drawn daily.

Finials: two are supplied with every kit. In matt black the finials made are ball or end cap. Finial coverage varies by finish across Contract 35, so order finials and pole together rather than assuming a design is made in every finish.
