Measuring for holiday lodge and park home curtains
Low ceilings, bay ends, pitched roofs and a lot of small windows. Measure one unit carefully and the fleet follows.
What is different in lodges
The curtains, roman blinds, pelmets and tracks and poles guides cover how to take every measurement. This page adds what is different about measuring in this sector and gives you the schedule we need.
Lodges and park homes are built to a manufacturer's model, so units of the same model share window sizes to within a few millimetres. The difficulty is the building itself: ceilings at 2.2m, bay or splayed ends, windows tight to the corner, and roof pitches that leave no room for stack-back.
Measuring a model
One unit measured in full
Measure every window in one unit of each model: track or pole width, drop in three places, finish point, projection, and what is under the window. Check a second unit of the same model at two or three windows; if they agree within 10mm, order by model.
Low ceilings
With the window head close to the ceiling there is often less than 100mm above the recess. Fix the track as high as the ceiling allows, or use a ceiling-fixed track, and measure the drop from the fixing. Tell us if the heading has to sit tight under the ceiling so we can suggest a low-profile heading.
Pitched ceilings
Vaulted lodge ceilings drop towards the eaves. Fix the track level at the height that clears the ceiling at its lowest point, including where the curtains stack, and measure from there. Where that leaves no room, a roman blind inside the recess is the better answer.
Bay and splayed ends
Lodge bays are usually three faces at a shallow angle. Measure each face along the track line and note the angle, or send a photo; a single curtain each end with the bay left clear is the usual make-up.
Small and awkward windows
Bathroom, bedroom and gable windows are often too small for a pair of curtains to look right. A roman blind inside the recess, or a single curtain on a pole, suits them; measure per the roman blinds guide.
Windows tight to a corner
Where the window is within 150mm of a corner there is no room for stack-back on that side. Tell us which side, and we make a single-draw curtain stacking away from the corner, or fit a track with a short return.
Ordering for a fleet
Give us the model, the number of units and the unit numbers, with the master measurements per model. We label curtains by unit and window and hold the dye lot for repeat orders as the park expands. Bedrooms take dimout or blackout with returns; living areas dimout.
The schedule we need
One line per window, all figures in millimetres. Send it as a spreadsheet, a PDF or a photo of a marked-up plan.

- Track or pole width; drop (smallest of three); in mm.
- Fixing and headroom
- Wall or ceiling; distance from recess head to ceiling; pitch if any.

- Floor, sill or above a heater / bed.

Frequently asked questions
Can you work from the manufacturer's drawings?
Often, yes. Send the model's floor plan and elevations and we can size the tracks and curtains from them, then check one unit on site before the order is made.
What standard applies?
BS 5867-2 Type B for holiday accommodation. Where units are let as sleeping accommodation under a fire risk assessment that asks for Type C, filter the holiday accommodation collection by standard.
